Man Utd ‘plan offer’ for £35m Arsenal, Leeds target after Arnautovic snub

Manchester United have reportedly ‘turned their attentions’ to PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo having ended their pursuit of Marko Arnautovic and are ‘planning an offer’ for the young forward.
United are in the market for a new striker this summer to bolster their squad after they started the season without a recognised striker in the starting lineup.

Cristiano Ronaldo was on the bench as he seeks match fitness after a summer spent angling for a move away from Old Trafford, while Anthony Martial was out through injury.
And as United were being given the runaround by Brighton on the opening day, news broke of their interest in former Stoke and West Ham striker Marko Arnautovic.
Bologna rejected their opening £7.6m offer and were ready to go close to £10m with a second before the Serie A side shut down negotiations.
On United’s interest, manager Sinisa Mihajlovic said: “I would be happy for Marko [in case he joins United] but I don’t think he will leave.
“I spoke to Arnautovic about Man Utd proposal – in case he leaves we will see… but I think he will stay.”
And transfer expert Fabrizio Romano later claimed that Arnautovic ‘won’t sign’ for United this summer with the Italian adding: ‘Deal off and talks will not continue after opening bid turned down by Bologna’.
Back to the drawing board then for United, who have reportedly been ‘offered’ Alvaro Morata by Atletico Madrid, but are instead keen on adding Gakpo to the squad.
The 23-year-old has been used chiefly as a winger by former United star Ruud van Nistelrooy, who is the manager of PSV, but can also operate in a central role.
The Telegraph claim United have ‘registered their interest’ in the Dutch international with PSV and it’s thought he would cost around £35m.
The report claims Ajax forward Antony remains Ten Hag’s preferred option but his former club are demanding nearly twice what their Eredivisie rivals want for Gakpo.
It’s also stated that Gakpo is ‘understood to be interested in joining Ten Hag at United’, but they may face competition with ‘other Premier League clubs also tracking him’, including Leeds and Arsenal.
Gakpo, who scored 21 goals last season and a brace in the weekend win over FC Emmen, is represented by SEG who also advise Ten Hag, which could prove to be an advantage in their bid to sign him.
United are ‘planning an offer’ for him having missed out not only on Arnautovic but also Benjamin Sesko, whom United held talks with but has instead agreed a deal to move from RB Salzburg to RB Leipzig next year.
