Google’s Pixel Buds Pro that could give Apple’s AirPods Pro a run for their money

Google has launched its latest wireless headphones, the Pixel Buds Pro, to accompany its line of Pixel phones.

With active noise cancellation, it looks as though they could be a strong competitor against Apple’s AirPods Pro, Sennheiser’s Momentum True Wireless 3, and even Sony’s WF-1000XM4.

The Pixel Buds Pro come in a strikingly similar design to that of the ever-popular AirPods range, with a white case for easy storage and security on the go. The buds themselves have a soft matte finish and come in four colours: Coral, Lemongrass, Fog and Charcoal. They are also rated IPX4 splashproof, while the case is IPX2.

Their noise cancellation works with Silent Seal technology and sensors that monitor the pressure inside your ear canal. There’s volume EQ to adjust the balance along with the volume and later into 2022, spatial audio is due to arrive via a firmware update.

Multipoint aims to let you connect wirelessly to multiple devices and switch between them whilst the mics are set to cancel out wind for easy phone calls whilst on the go outdoors, which should save you having to shout to be heard. Google Assistant will also be on hand to help you out via voice commands, similar to Siri over at Apple.

The Pixel Buds Pro battery life should last an impressive seven hours with ANC activated, while the case adds in another 13 hours of run time, giving a grand total battery life of up to 20 hours.

Google’s new earbuds build on the features from the Pixel Buds A Series, which didn’t come equipped with active noise cancellation.

If you fancy giving the Pixel Buds Pro a go, pre-orders start on July 21, with the buds retailing at £179.
