Doctor Strange 2 Video Reveals Illuminati & Charlize Theron’s Clea

Marvel Studios officially releases the Illuminati and Charlize Theron’s Clea’s introductions in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Official footage from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness reveals the introduction of the Illuminati and Charlize Theron’s Clea. Marvel Studios’ latest blockbuster brings back Benedict Cumberbatch into the MCU after his involvement in Spider-Man: No Way Home. In the film, he is faced with the difficult task of protecting America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), who is being hunted by the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen).

As the title suggests, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness allows Marvel Studios to further explore the concept of the multiverse. Thanks to this, the film is able to introduce a string of new players in the MCU who are tied to the idea. There’s Earth-838’s Illuminati that’s made up of Captain Carter (Hayley Atwell), Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), and Maria Rambeau’s (Lashana Lynch) Captain Marvel with Black Bolt (Anson Mount), Mister Fantastic (John Krasinski), and Professor X (Patrick Stewart). Aside from the super-secret team, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘ post-credits scene also sees Theron’s debut in the MCU as Clea.

With Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness now out in theaters for several weeks now, Marvel Studios has released official footage of the Illuminati’s introduction as Doctor Strange faces them for the first time. The clip which is shared by Doctor Strange‘s official Twitter account, also includes Clea’s arrival in the MCU as she recruits the sorcerer for an unknown mission. Watch the clip below:

Previously released official footage has already provided a good look at four out of the six members of Earth-838 Illuminati. And even in this clip, Krasinski’s Mister Fantastic and Stewart’s Professor X are both nowhere to be found. It’s curious why Marvel Studios is opting to withhold their appearance in the film considering that it has been a while since Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hit theaters, and a lot of fans pretty much already know about their involvement. Charles Xavier’s cameo is particularly interesting considering that his appearance was confirmed through the movie’s marketing, so there’s really no reason left to keep him hidden. In any case, all members of Doctor Strange’s Illuminati team are dead anyway, so there’s a slim chance that the MCU will see this exact roster of the team again moving forward.

With regard to Clea, Theron has been open about her cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness for weeks now. Even Marvel Studios has officially released a promo still of Clea and Doctor Strange in the film, so it isn’t surprising that her appearance in the film is included in this new promo clip. For what it’s worth, there’s barely anything revealed in her appearance anyway. Granted that Marvel Comics readers have some ideas on what’s happening based on what’s on print, there’s no clear indication as to what’s next for her and Doctor Strange in the MCU. Arguably the biggest revelation in her cameo is the fact that Theron has now officially boarded the Marvel franchise.
